Time clock

The time clock that already knows the schedule.

Every OnlineScheduling account comes with a time clock. People clock in on their own phone or on a shared tablet, and every punch lines up with their shift.

On their phone, or by the door.

Two ways to clock in, and you can use both.

On their own phone

The first card on their home, with Clock in, the time worked ticking, and Clock out.

On a shared tablet

A kiosk by the door, installed on the tablet as an app in one quick step. Type a PIN, see your name, tap Clock in.

Each clock is for everyone, or the positions and people you choose.

Clocking in takes seconds.

The same steps on a phone and at the kiosk.

Enter your PIN

The time clock confirms who wants to Clock in and Clock out.

Matched to the shift

The confirmation names the shift, and the punch lands on it.

No early starts unless you say so

No one can clock in more than 30 minutes before their shift. Change it by asking.

No shift? No problem

Someone with no shift to clock in to can clock in to a position they hold, for unscheduled work, if the rules allow it.

Set the clock's rules in plain words.

Every workspace starts with one rule. Add your own by saying how clocking in works for your team.

Say it the way you would to a crew

Type the rule in the chat, in your own words. There are no settings to hunt for.

Stop it, or flag it

Say “can't” and a clock-in outside the window is stopped, and the worker sees when it opens. Say “flag” and it's taken and flagged for a look.

Different jobs, different rules

A rule for one position takes the place of the rule for everyone, for that position only.

Read back before it counts

You see the rule in plain words and switch it on yourself. Change or remove it the same way.

Every punch, matched and checked.

Punches land on the Time clock tab beside each shift, so you see who's in and what needs a look.

Flagged, not refused

Punches are taken, and anything odd is flagged: a missed clock-out, unscheduled time, an entry the worker adjusted.

Workers approve their own time

On their Time clock page they approve their entries, or adjust one with a reason.

Fix it with a reason

Add, edit or void an entry. Every change keeps its reason, and each entry keeps its history.

Export CSV

Save the table for the days you pick, up to 31 at a time.

A tablet ready in three steps.

No account to make on the tablet and nothing to download from an app store.

  1. 1

    Add the tablet

In Time clock, then Clocks & Devices, add a device and make its setup code.

  2. 2

    Scan the code

Open the kiosk on the tablet and scan the QR code, or type the 16 digits.

  3. 3

    Install it as an app

One quick, optional step from the browser, with no app store. It opens full screen like any app and keeps its setup.

  • 5 wrong PINs lock the tablet for 5 minutes.
  • A manager can clear a lockout.
  • A lost tablet can be revoked.

Time clock questions, answered.

Does every account have the time clock?

Yes, with nothing to switch on.

What do I need for a kiosk?

A tablet or computer with a web browser. Scan the setup code where the browser reads QR codes, or type the 16 digits.

Can the kiosk run as an app?

Yes, and installing it takes one quick step, with no app store. The setup screen shows the steps for the browser you're on, or its Install button in Chrome and Edge. Installed, it opens full screen and keeps its setup when the browser is closed. On an iPad, install it first, then enter the setup code.

Do people need to download an app?

No. They clock in from their own sign-in on their phone or computer, or at the kiosk with a PIN.

Where do PINs come from?

Each person's PIN is on their record. Set it on their panel in People & Things, or ask the assistant.

What if someone forgets to clock out?

It's flagged. Clock them out on the Time clock tab, or ask: "Clock Caleb out."

Can people clock in early?

Up to 30 minutes before their shift, to start. Change or remove that rule by asking.

What if a tablet goes missing?

Revoke it on Clocks & Devices, and it can't take punches again.

Can I see where people clock in?

If you turn it on for a clock, each punch saves where the person was. A punch without a location is still taken, and flagged.

Can I export hours?

Yes. Export CSV on the Time clock tab saves the days you pick.
